Tastemakers Africa (or just TSTMKRS) connects the continent and the Black diaspora. Through virtual events, a global membership, and curated travel experiences - this is the space where we “see” each other.
We wish we had a straight answer for you...but for now, it depends.
If you're like us, you wish the answer was, "of course - catch you in Ghana this December", but it's not quite that simple. We think all travelers should have all the information and tools you need to decide when you'll be ready to travel, where to go, and how to do it safely.
If you are thinking about traveling soon, we're ready to help you do it safely. Our curators with open experiences have passed our rigorous Covid-19 checklist - meaning that they're up to our standards, set using the best advice we have from WHO, regional, and local guidelines. For all of our current and future travelers, we're also continuing our policy of full refunds and anytime cancellations if your trip or experience is impacted in anyway by the pandemic.
To keep our travelers safe, we've rolled out a rigorous Covid-19 checklist. Curators and experiences who pass this checklist means they're up to our standards, set using the best advice we have from WHO, regional, and local guidelines. Look for the award icon 🏅 next to an experience to see if it passed the checklist. We also recommend that you do your own research, on our platform and with regional health recommendations in your destination.

Given the state of the world, we've re-worked our group trips to make sure they are safer, smaller, and done in a way that keeps travelers and the communities we travel to healthy. Our new trips are planned with lots of research into destinations that are safe to travel to, the advice of local and regional authorities, and in collaboration with the communities we will travel in.

Your group trip payment covers the cost of your accommodation, transportation, curated itinerary, experiences and tours, access to parties and events on the trip, and some of your meals each day. You're responsible for the cost of your flights, but we're available to help you with the process.
Our trip accommodations are all four star living in beautiful, boutique spaces (check out a trip to get a feel for where you'll be staying). Rates are for double occupancy but we promise to match you with someone awesome. Need solo space? no problem - you can upgrade for a fee.
Short answer: It depends on which country you're traveling to.
If you're a group trip or concierge traveler - you'll hear from our travel team directly and they'll walk you through everything you need for your specific trip.
If you're planning your own trip - our journal has lots of resources on how, when, and where to take care of your visas, shots, and general trip prep (and our customer support team doesn't mind answering your questions👇🏾 just click contact us at the bottom of the page)
Here's the longer answer: As a general rule West African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, etc.) require a Yellow Fever shot and a Malaria regimen is suggested. East African countries (Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia usually also require Yellow Fever but Malaria is not usually endemic. South Africa doesn't require any of these shots from US or EU citizens but if you're coming from another part of the continent, Yellow Fever is usually required. We're working on a feature that puts a note on experiences where these immunizations are required.
