Why you should do this
Hair as an art form dates back centuries. This is especially true in the African tradition. Braids specifically, have been worn as crowns across cultures from the Zulu and Xhosa in Southern Africa to the Fulani and Yoruba in West Africa and beyond. Your curator Nikiwe, a celebrated hair artist from Soweto, will take you through her inspiration and also show you how to #OwnYourCrown on this insider tour of Johannesburg's street hair culture.
