The Fulani are one of the largest ethnic groups in the Sahel and West Africa. Living in what is now Nigeria, Senegal, Guinea, and Mali, they are known for their ornate jewelry, beautiful women, and nomadic dining tradition. Fatmata Binta, a recognized chef of Fulani descent living in Accra, will help you experience cuisine the Fulani way. You'll be treated to three courses inclusive of dessert, music, and good vibes that you'll always remember.
Fatmata Binta was born and raised in freetown Sierra Leone to first generation Sierra Leonean Fulanis of Guinean descent. She describes herself as the Fulani Chef, a classic nomad. She has traveled to several continents and has worked with many African chefs.
She’s also been featured on several TV shows and media outlets across the African continents. She is now based in Accra, Ghana where she is building a rich culinary experience through her Fulani traditional dining pop ups. Her vision is to promote Fulani culture through food, bring people closer and to promote african cuisine to the world.
Chef Binta will share her history with you from ingredients to historical figures and more. You'll even get to understand why the mat is such an important part of Fulani dining.
From yoghurt based drinks to herbal teas, what you drink is just as important as what you eat in the Fulani tradition. Each course of your meal is complemented by something delicious to imbibe alongside it.
Like every Tastemakers experience, you'll get the chance to meet and connect with other travelers who share the same curiocity about a place as you do.
Food is definitely the centerpiece of Chef Binta's Fulani Dine on A Mat experience. Fresh, local ingredients are blended into recipes that have been preserved for centuries with a modern twist. Vegan options are available.

Chef Binta was absolutely amazing! It was a small and intimate group and we enjoyed the best fulani styled food on mats. We never tried fulani food before and everything we ate was amazing! She was a great host and recommend it to anyone visiting.
