After meeting up with your host, your first stop is a chop bar just minutes away. A chop bar is a local name for informal restaurants who happen to serve some of the best food in the city. You'll get to see fufu being founded and the basic ingredients of some of Ghana's most beloved dishes at the start of the day for most of the shop owners.
"Soup" is core to the Ghanaian food tradition - from groundnut to lightsoup, it is often paired with a starch like fufu or banku (these are also called swallows). You'll get to dive into one of these after learning the history and connection which made it a mainstay.
After you try soup, you'll get your fix on other Ghanaian roadside staples like red red, waayke, and the sweet treat that is bofrot.

The Street Food Crawl was nothing short of perfect. First, Tastemakers Africa has impeccable customer service. I only had a day to explore and was trying to put something together the night before. I took advantage of their messenger and Cherae was very helpful. My big interest was being able to eat Ghanaian food but I am a vegetarian so I wasn't sure if I could do any of the food experiences. Cherae helped me find the perfect choice and ensured me that the Street Food Crawl would be vegetarian friendly. The tour itself was so fulfilling-- and filling! My tour guide was great and very informative. The food I ate was so delicious I would come back to Ghana just to eat. Thank you Tastemakers! I will definitely come here first for my other travels. I can't wait to see this company grow.
